Resident doctors in Delhi continue their protest over due salaries

On Thursday, several resident doctors of hospitals which are run by the North Delhi civic body, had staged a protest at Jantar Mantar over their pending salaries. They were sporting black armbands and shouting slogans. Doctors wearing masks from Kasturba Hospital, Hindu Rao Hospital and Rajen Babu Tuberculosis Hospital held placards and appealed to their higher authorities to intercede and resolve the matter.

Lately, several resident doctors of the facilities had also held a protest at Jantar Mantar that was followed by a candlelight march. Abhimanyu Sardana, President of Hindu Rao Hospital RDA said that they want their pending salaries, which is their basic right. They are tired of raising this issue again and again but no resolution yet.

The associates of the RDA of Hindu Rao Hospital have been protesting since several days and also had gone on an indefinite strike, till the release of their salaries that are due for the past three months. Kasturba Hospital resident doctors are also agitated over their pending salaries. Jyotsana Prakash, a resident doctor at Hindu Rao said few of them might even sit on hunger strike from today onwards.

Delhi Police had appealed to people to concede any plans for organising protests or rallies in the city till the time prohibition orders that are issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)are in force. The police warned of the strict action against those who are violating these orders.
